Some Thoughts about the Summer from Cruz, Julio, and Adam....

There are three reasons I liked my summer at Durango Mountain Camp. First, I liked doing mountain biking and river rafting at DMC. Second, I liked doing mail call wall, language tutoring, and study hall. Third, I liked having really good friends, and I loved the awesome tutors that helped me. I had a lot of fun, and I hope you had a brilliant summer too.

The very best parts of my awesome summer were at Durango Mountain Camp. I made eight friends and had lots of fun. We went on the river trail with mountain bikes, and we rode carefully on the BMX track. The whole camp went rafting two days before the tutoring started. I like rafting so much that I went with my family the next weekend. I had an amazing summer at DMC.

These are the best parts of my awesome summer. First, I went you to Durango Mountain Camp, and I went boogie boarding behind a speedboat. Second, I spent time with my caring family, and I had a blast with my funny friends. Third, I went fishing with my family at a big lake in Los Alamos. I hope you had a tremendous summer too.

Cool Carving

Check out this cool carving we found on a tree stump by camp. Whoa!!! I wonder who created this and when?

Sam, Sam the Ice Cream Man

THANK YOU SAM FOR COVERING EVERYBODY'S ICE CREAM FROM BASKIN ROBBINS. WE REALLY ENJOYED IT!!!

Surfing USA

Check out these campers surfing in the mountains. We surfed the Animas River. The best surfs were at "Corner Pocket" and the rapids below.

Castle Rock

Check out these smiling faces a top Castle Rock. What a view!!!

These pictures come from the Wild Colorado hike to Castle Rock. These campers made it out to the cliff overlooking the valley. The views from up there are wonderful. Hikers can see the valley north of Durango, including Haviland Lake and Needles gas station, the favorite place for campers to go and grab afternoon snacks.

The Adventurous Life of Kace

The genie had captured the whole crew of Ninjas except for one. The one took down the evil genie and all of them were freed again. And that is how Kace decided her favorite color; from a t.v. show she watches with her friends. The t.v. show is Ninjago. They are a group of Ninjas, each one a different color. She and her friends decided to pick one Ninja for each of them; she picked blue.
Colors are important to Kace, because as an artist, she loves drawing detailed doodles and drawings of everything she sees. Her favorite drawing is a realistic looking rabbit that her grandma taught her to draw. Once you get to know Kace better you will also find out that she loves Cotton Candy ice cream because it takes the flavor of cotton candy and makes it cold. You also may know that she has a great sense of humor by the pranks she plays on her brother. She put a straw into a ketchup packet and put it at the bottom of her brother’s drink. When he took a big sip of his soda, he realized it was actually a big sip of ketchup. Like all of us, she can relate wanting to ‘unsee’ the report on ISIS and seeing the disturbing videos of beheadings.
Her father’s job took the family to Guadalajara, Mexico, which is a good thing because in Mexico there are lots of cats and soccer is huge there. Kace’s favorite animals are cats, especially her tiny kitten because of how small and cute it is. She likes soccer as well because she knows the rules to that game and it is fun.

The more you get to know Kace the more you find out that every new thing sounds awesome and she’s looking forward to experiencing it all.
