Pinewood cars by Jared Bridwell (Camper)

This week in art class we are making Pinewood Derby cars.  The first day we were given a block of wood, and we had to trace our design on it.  Then, Mr. Bill, the art teacher, took them home and cut them out.  The next day we filed, sanded, and put a base coat of paint on our cars.  On Wednesday we painted the details on our car.  Mr. Bill had all types of colors and paint tape for racing stripes.  We let them dry for the night.  Thursday was also a painting day, and most campers finished and had some free time.  On Friday we put on the wheels and applied graphite to make them more smooth.  After lunch we raced the cars, and it was a lot of fun to see whose cars worked and whose did not work as well.  In conclusion, this was one of the more fun art projects we have had at DMC.
